Therapies and Services for Autistic Children

Autism Diagnosis
The first step in the ABA therapy journey is getting your child an ASD diagnosis. We offer ADOS testing with a qualified expert in any of our facilities. Assessments are complete after 60 to 120 minutes of play-based social interactions. Consult with us in advance to see if we can accept your insurance, and then schedule a testing time.
ABA Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis therapy in conjunction with Occupational Therapy (OT) and Speech Therapy (ST) is highly individualized and is always done on a one-on-one basis. Our therapies are customized to each child and may include academics, communication, functional skills, and play skills. The overall goal of our ABA therapy is to help children transition to a traditional classroom environment where they can thrive with the skills they gain with us.
Occupational Therapy
At Mindful and Modern ABA Therapies, we strive for the attainment of independence and development of fine motor skills, sensory motor skills, and visual motor skills that children need to function and socialize in their home, school setting, play, and community environments.
Speech Therapy
Speech and language therapy helps with disorders that inhibit a child’s ability to communicate basic wants and needs. Some children only need help with language. Others have problems with the mechanics of speech. Our in-house Speech Language Pathologist works alongside our clinical team to help treat speech and language deficits in children with autism. Speech therapy, when provided in conjunction with ABA, provides your child with the tools they need to verbalize their thoughts and hold meaningful conversations.
Feeding Therapy
Nutrition plays an integral role in living a healthy lifestyle. Many children and adults with autism face challenges that can make a nutritious diet especially difficult. Food sensitivities, gastroenterological issues and restricted or repetitive behaviors are just a few examples. Our methodology is to build acceptance to new foods through gradual exposure. MMAT encourages your child to interact with food through their senses and we talk about the look and feel of foods.
Insurance Consultation
All of our therapies are covered by insurance, and all of our claims are covered in-house by our knowledgeable staff. We have an insurance team dedicated to making sure you have the coverage you need for your child’s autism therapy. We work with families to gather necessary information and identify the services covered by your insurance plan.
Inclusion
At Mindful and Modern ABA Therapies, we offer ABA therapy in an inclusive Montessori environment. Our emphasis on inclusion gives children an opportunity to learn together and from one another at their own pace, regardless of ability. Our small group settings allow for focused one-on-one therapy and peer participation in activities to happen side-by-side.
Behavior Consultation (aka parent training)
At Mindful and Modern ABA Therapies, we encourage family participation in therapy. Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) go beyond meeting with families to discuss progress and obstacles in therapy. We also work with parents, teaching them how to mirror our therapy methods at home. By working together, children with ASD can make lasting, positive behavioral changes.
Geared specifically towards children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, this series-based, experiential art program is led by local artists and supported by our dedicated Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). While your child with ASD enjoys a hands-on, multidisciplinary educational art session, MMAT offers parents an opportunity to learn about our unique Montessori approach to ABA.
Over the course of 8 weeks, our inclusive summer camps offer unique, STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math) themes each week. Focused on the whole child, Mindful and Modern Therapies’ camps are an opportunity for children of all abilities to play, learn, and grow. Children may attend all 8 weeks or can take an a-la-carte approach, attending only selective individual weeks.
